Toro Tonto Gets A New Saddle

You can’t have a bull without leather. This is the Brooks B17 Standard to replace the stock seat. It has the advantage of being leather and is supposed to be one of the most comfortable seats around once broken in. There’s debate on how long it takes to break in. I’m hoping it happens to be on the short end of the spectrum. I took it on a short test ride and it was great though a little hard and very slippery right now. I used the recommended Proofhide (which I believe is overpriced snake oil leather treatment) on the bottom which should help it break in.
I switched to a proofide alternative, Fiebing’s Aussie Leather Conditioner. As far as I can tell, it’s almost the same stuff at a tenth the price. Good luck with your Brooks.
