Kayaking And Relaxing On The Augusta Canal

Another weekend, another outing. This time we opted for kayaks instead of canoes. We rented 3 of them and set out on the Augusta Canal from the headgates. AWOL gave us a lift to the Pavilion, along with a water-savvy canoeing family of five. Unfortunately the pics didn't turn out all that well. This is for two reasons:

1. Our team's strength strikes the surface of the canal as a mighty wind and...
2. It's hard to take good pics when you are traveling that fast.

I didn't much care to setup shots anyway, as the journey was geared towards relaxation instead of geocaching or our normal missions.

Setting out. With the headgates at his back, RunsOnSumatra refines the stroke that parts waters.

We encountered all sorts of plants but also many animals including a few Kraken Turtle resting on the floor of the canal, a beaver (whose portrait didn't turn out), ducks, many large egret-type birds of mythological proportions, but no alligators.

Kishan stands next to our craft, landed at the very end of the Augusta Canal. No man is known to have traveled the canal beyond this point.

RunsOnSumatra has pics from the trip here.

The question from this outing that needs further research is: How many rivers flow North?
