Chess On Ice

You probably already heard that Spencer hurt his knee curling last week. Apparently he had some trouble handling the broom which lead to a misunderstanding between him and a sweeper on Randy Ferbey's team. I hope he gets better soon and can return to the ice for next winter's Canadian Curl-a-thon Nationals.

You also probably heard that this week's episode of Lost was ONE OF THE BEST EVER! Unfortunately you can't watch Season 4 just anywhere. Try going to abc.com to watch the show in Brazil, for example, and you will be redirected somewhere else. But there is (almost certainly illegal) help. Spencer's always asking me "But what about Portuguese? Is there no way to get Lost subtitled in Portuguese so I can explain the plot to Brent?". Well, Lostinho, there is now a way.

Wow!

This blog entry could not have been more in error. I was competing in an extreme sport "Ice Hockey", when I hurt my knee. It was the last 5mins of the game score tied 3 to 3, I was going for the winning goal.

The referee hurled the puck forcefully toward the ice only to be abruptly smacked into the right-side corner of the opposing teams goal. I made a mad dash towards the puck slashing past defense, much like Sidney Crosby, dodging possible trips and shoulders of the opposing team. In the matter of a second I was on top of the puck and made an incredible pass through my legs and the outreached arms and looming sticks of the defense to our center. With a thunderous whack, like a bolt of lightning cutting through the air, he fired the puck at the goalie only to be denied by his blocker pad. With cat like reflexes I performed a flawless 360 spinning away from the defense and pounced on the bouncing puck, which had eluded all as it careened away from the goal. On bladed edge I turned, raised my stick and began the forceful downward swing that would surly send the puck deep to the back of the net providing the winning goal. When much to my surprise my legs were chopped out from under me and I was tossed through the air only to land with my right leg pointing ninety degrees out in the wrong direction. Immediately I felt the excruciating pain associated with such a horrific turn of events. My body had rolled up on my knee tearing the inner meniscus, I knew in an instance it was a season ending injury.

With such a horrendous injury striking the star player of the "White" team, my fellow team mates could not regroup and ended up loosing 3 to 5.

Let it be known here and now that I will overcome this dreadful injury to again lead my team in victory on the frozen battlefield known as the Ice Forum.
