Tropic Thunder, Greek Night, and finishing Long Way Down
Sort of inline with the Olympics though perhaps completely coincidental Saturday's dinner night had a Greek theme. It was in Augusta so I had to ride out, which was only possible because Jen was willing to take care of Stella.

Getting gas out in the middle of nowhere. $3.78/gal! What a steal! I calculate I probably saved at least $20 in gas by taking the bike instead of the car. Plus its way more fun.
I was spending the evening at Betz Manor so after arriving we put the bike in the garage (the first time its been in one of those) and went to the grocery store to buy the items on our lists.

The recipes for the evenings menu. There is no good product without requirements and specification.

Moussaka was the main dish. It's essentially an eggplant lasagna with lamb bits inbetween the layers.

Clint and Michelle were tasked with making the dessert, Baklava. Their execution was perfect, the result was incredible. This is probably the greatest single food ever made during a dinner night.
We had a remarkable showing at the dinner night. Pretty much everybody was there except Kishan and Anita who had some other engagements to go to but were supposed to arrive later that evening. Brent was of course there, Spencer and his wife showed up, Josh and Kourtney, Michael and Wanda, Clint and Michelle, Steve and Lisa, and me.
I didn't take any pictures this time except for those above of the food. Instead I made a movie to capture the real experience of it but I haven't yet uploaded it to crappy youtube because 1. it takes forever and 2. it looks crappy when its done. Flickr won't let you upload movies longer than 90 seconds. I'll figure something out.
Today we waited around awhile for a potential lunch with Kishan (who was in Augusta this week from Houston) but we never heard anything so I left Betz Manor a little after noon and came back to Atlanta. Jen brought Stella over and I spent the evening pretending to clean up the apartment but really just watching the last 4 episodes of Long Way Down on the DVD Curtis gave me:

We are now only two weeks away from our next big AT adventure. 36 miles over 4 days to put us within reach (8 miles) of the North Carolina border. This one is exciting because part of the mission of the trips is to experience the AT in the way a through hiker might experience it but without taking 5 or 6 months off to do it fully. The plan calls for longer days and hauling more food. It should be great and I'm really looking forward to getting the tent out again.

I was looking for blogs about geocaching when I found yours, but your posts about the AT are awesome. I have become very interested in the AT and wish I could do it, maybe someday. I can't wai tto see pics from your next segment!
I hope you enjoyed my rather long movie clip of cheese that was taken with your camera on Greek night.
Your cheese footage is the reason youtube rejected my video. I'm searching for alternative hosting now.
