Little House On The Knob Hill

Got up early for a Saturday to help Clint move in to his new house. Good showing for the move. All of these elements were there:

FGKSs

We made pretty good time on the move, at least up to when I left. Hopefully it went smoothly afterwards too.

The afternoon kayaking trip sunk. We drove all the way to Columbia to find out the shuttle service from Adventure Carolina costs $65... one way! Wasn't mentioned on the phone. At AWOL the trip out to the canal (which I think is a comparable distance), was $10 additional. I thought the lady at the place was annoying too. She gave us all sorts of expensive options to get from her business to the water (which IMO, is HER problem) but as the shuttle departure time drew closer and closer she hit us up like a used car saleman to get on the shuttle. Up to now the places we've rented from have been fairly flexible. In the end it was frustrating enough that we decided not to go kayaking at all. So big thumbs down to Adventure Carolina for making the customer conform to the business instead of vice versa. Bad first impression = no future business. On the bright side we had lunch at a nice place in Columbia and found a store that sells all kinds of kayaks. The guy there was friendly and helpful so I'll likely revisit when its time to buy a kayak. For now, its car rack shopping time to get around these shuttle fiascos.

ICATIWWA Grand Opening

I have started an Augusta/Evans chapter of ICATIWWA (I Can't Admit That I Was Wrong Anonymous). Founded by Richard Nixon in 1979, the ICATIWWA organization promotes social well-being for individuals who are unable or unwilling to admit that they were blatantly wrong in their actions. As such, I myself, am ineligible to preside as president of the Augusta/Evans chapter. If you know someone, a friend, co-worker, perhaps a relative, or other individual who desperately needs help and would make a great charter member of this organization, please email me. If not, no apologies necessary.

Thanks.

Kayaking Charleston's Waterways

Just returned from Charleston with RunsOnSumatra and Wanda. We saw (I think) 4 dolphins, more birds than can be counted (including pelicans, various types of seagulls, some kind of kiwi looking thing, and other birds of various descriptions but unknown names), crabs, fish (bubbles), etc. Perhaps more details later on where and what. For now, some pics.
